Walk to the Park

The weather has been so wintery here that once we saw a bit of sunshine, we were all off to walk to the park. We were so excited to get outside. ParkI think it feels like I have been shut indoors for a few months! I guess it is actually like that a little with the winter weather but it feels like this year more than any, I stayed indoors more…probably from being sick. But I am SO ready for Spring and to be outside. I am about sick of being in my house! Park2

This is Hadley laughing at Mike while he is tickling her. It makes me think of an 80’s dance move though.

View Hudson

Hudson was having a blast running around finding sticks and acorns. He thought the acorns were the coolest thing. He went down some big slides a few times, but he always twists around on his belly when he goes down slides. I was worried he was going to fly off of them! Oh, it is SO nice for it to be warm again!

As a total journaling side note for myself, Hadley got her first tooth yesterday. It was her bottom right one. It has been trying to make its appearance for awhile so I am SO glad it finally poked through. The left one is on its way probably today or tomorrow. So close!

A to the Z

For Spring Break, we were planning on just staying home. Then a few days before, we decided that sounded kind of boring so we planned to go to Arizona and then go to San Diego for a day or two. After the long drive to AZ though, we decided not to go to Cali. Just sick of driving!

I did get together with one of my favorite people, Rachel. We had a blast with a girl's day out. We had a great lunch at this yummy place, Pastis. Then we got a great treat at Bahama Bucks (I love that place!!). Then we went to a store and headed back. We ended up talking out in the car for at least 2 hours! We have such a great time together that it always flies by! It was so much fun though!!
The kids had a blast with Grandma and Grandpa...although sadly, I didn't get any pics of them with Grandpa.Hadley had fun ringing in her 8 month mark and climbing up the stairs. Man, this girl gets around fast. Hadley had a good time with her Aunt Marianne and her Uncle Shane. We had such a good time with them too!
Hudson loved making crafts with Grandma. I think he brought a whole new noise level to Grandma and Grandpa's house!Hadley was loving all of the people to dote on her! She was spoiled. She tried to eat Charlie's nose a few times. I was hoping she didn't lick him!Mike got us 2 new tires (since one of ours ended up getting a hole in it, it was pretty much a good thing we didn't go to SD when we planned on.) Then he and his Dad changed our brakes. Dirty mechanic!

On the way to AZ, I told Mike to slow down in the car. He wasn't really driving that fast but I was just getting a weird feeling that something bad was going to happen. Not long after that, we had to come to a stop because there was a big accident in front of us. They had two helicopters there to life flight people from it. I don't know if my feeling was related to that or not, but I am so glad we slowed down. It sure put a new feeling on driving the rest of the way too. We weren't as worried about how much longer we were driving and more focused on just being safe!

We had a great time and it was so good to see family and friends! Plus, the weather was gorgeous!! Spring Break is the best....man am I going to miss that once we go back to "real" life!!

Fire Engine Red

For playgroup before Spring Break, we went to a fire station. It was really cool for the kids (and for us moms too!). I thought it was really interesting to see where they sleep, eat and how the whole thing works. Pretty crazy! The kids loved being right up next to two big fire engines. They had a guy come out totally dressed up. It freaked a couple of the kids out a little until they realized it was a guy in there. He took off his suit to prove to the kids he was really in there too!Hadley was having a good time just chilling in the stroller. She liked watching all of the action. They have such cool equipment on the truck. I liked hearing about all of it. They even let the kiddos go inside the truck!Hudson had a blast!! He was talking about it the rest of the day.

Getting caught!

Most of these pics it seems like the kiddos are in their pjs. Some of these were taken when we were sick for about 3 weeks and some they are just taken in the morning. Oh well...jammies are fun.Hudson got into my mascara. He was having a blast. Me, not so happy when I saw this. Just thankful it didn't get on anything else! One day Huds thought it was hilarious to put Hadley's baby legs on. He went upstairs all on his own and put these on. He was busting up when he came downstairs to show me. Hudson loves Hadley a ton. He loves to take care of her too. Lately, he has been wanting her to "sit" on his lap. They both actually stayed like this for quite awhile. It surprised me. Then Huds starts wanting to wrestle or get crazy and Hadley doesn't really want a part of that!

Our very own March Madness

So we went on a little trek for Spring Break this year (not that it is any different than previous years) to Mesa, AZ. Pictures to come!! We planned to go to San Diego while we were there to check out some housing and the area. But everything seemed to be working against us so ultimately, we decided to not add another 10+ hours onto our trip. Soon after we got home, Mike got an email with the pdf copy of his letter of acceptance to the University of Georgia. They knew we were wanting to know as soon as possible. The letter is still on its way. This completely blew us away. They told us they would try to push it through for an early review but still said it would be at least mid-April before we would hear. So we were shocked when we got an email informing him of his acceptance to the University of Georgia in March. We were both excited but also a little bummed. We thought we had made our decision quite easily and have been looking forward to basking in the San Diego sun!! Now we are at a major crossroad and have a HUGE decision to make. Univ. of Georgia is an amazing school and their law school is ranked 35th in the nation. (SD is 61st, still not bad!) Both schools would provide a great opportunity. Both schools have great programs. Both cities would be fun to live in, for various reasons. We have to make a decision by the 31st. Enter the madness of March.

Binocs

Hudson missed his playgroup because he was sick a couple weeks ago so we made our own pair of binoculars at home. He was having a blast!! (Yeah, I am playing catch up with this blog...)

He colored the outside of it. He has really been into coloring lately. I swear he wants to do that ALL day long. Then we hot glued two TP rolls together. We wrapped the paper around it and taped it on. Hudson loved this part! Then he had a blast spying things around the house. We added some yarn to the binocs to go around his neck too. Then he started using it as a tunnel for his cars and trains. Total boy!

The man in the glasses

I must admit, I had a "thing" (or as much of a thing as a married woman has!!!) for Danny Gokey during his American Idol stint. Mike was all aware of this. I just LOVED his glasses. I could not get enough of them. I loved how he changed them up all of the time. And I couldn't help but be touched by the story of him losing his wife, although he was a fave of mine before I even knew about that. I must have missed that part when he was trying out. So I must admit, I was a bit giddy when Mike told me that a sweet friend of ours was giving me his CD AND was getting me his autograph on the cover!! It made my day and since I had been sick for so long, I really needed that!! Plus, it's pretty darn cool that she has become pretty good friends with his family and with him. So awesome!!! Thanks again Sam!

Whatev

These pictures aren't really for much other than just showing Hadley. I love the one where she is blowing raspberries. She looks like she is saying, whatev. It cracks me up!Hadley is really "talking" a LOT lately. I was worried because she seemed so quiet sometimes but she is definitely past that now! I think she is going to compete for loudest kid in our house. We also kicked her out of our room FINALLY! I have been wanting to move her but with 2 bed rooms, it just makes it hard. I know they can share a room and tons have done it before us but I just didn't want to deal with them waking each other up and/or not taking afternoon naps. She is in her own "room" in our landing. Luckily, her bed fits perfectly there. And it has been SO nice to not hear a little one moving around too. She also started giving kisses recently. I say give me a kiss and put my lips out and she will lean in and kiss me. Sometimes it's a little more fresh than I would like, but it's still cute.

A new hat

Hudson has kind of had an obsession lately with putting extra pairs of underwear on his head. Lucky for him, I take pictures of him. Good pictures for a LOT of embarrassment in the future. I am sure one day he will think I put him up to this, but this is ALL Hudson. He is such a ham all the time. Sometimes it drives me crazy that he has such a "yellow" personality where he wants to play and have fun ALL the time. But I just have to remind myself that if I make things into a game, he LOVES it!Here he is with his mosaic that he made at playgroup a few weeks ago. This was SO fun for him to make. Its just 1/3 cup of flour, salt and water. Then you can add beads, beans, sticker or other things to it to create color. Hudson was so proud of it. His looks a little messed up because he was busy driving his trains and cars through it. Guess it was a good track for them too!

Let's ROCK!!

Hudson absolutely LOVES to play the drums. I guess he must take after his uncles. He actually seems to have pretty decent rhythm.Whenever we go down to the basement he always wants to play on the drums (rockband drums of course). He will tap the sticks together like an old groupie and go to town. In his Ready to Rock shirt, he looks like the perfect band mate too!

Not Again

We have been hit with the sick bug, AGAIN!! Okay, so I don't know if I ever really got over it in the first place since I felt sort of good for about 1 1/2 days. I ended up getting sinusitis...with HORRIBLE ear pain in both ears. The Doc said they were bulging from the pressure. Yeah, it pretty much kills. I was a lot of fun to be around this weekend, let me tell you. But then again, Mike has been SO busy lately that he hasn't been able to be around as much, probably lucky him!!  (Oh, and no worries anyone I have been around in my day and a half of reprieve...I am NOT contagious. Just so you know cuz I wouldn't wish this on anybody!)

I know, I know. It is so freaking boring reading about people being sick and then about it again, and again, and well again. I think that too whenever I read someone post about it repeatedly. But it is even worse being the sickos! So I take back wondering why people post about being sick all of the time, because if that is what is going on...you want to post about something!! It takes my mind off of being sick for about 5 minutes so it's worth every second. These blasted ears are either going to get better or they are going to drive me insane. Like straight to the asylum!

Then Hudson woke up from his nap yesterday FrEaKiNg out! I couldn't get him to calm down for like 15 minutes. (Yeah, totally NOT like him.) The few things I could understand between the sobs were his teeth hurting, his ears, his mouth, his throat. I was like great??! Like Mike can handle taking care of another one of us being sick! So we took him to the Dr and he had not only his first ear infection in his entire life but also his second. Yep, two ear infections and sinusitis. It just keeps getting better and better.

So we have been doing a lot of pj/comfy clothes wearing, playing with trains and car guys, reading books, watching shows and blogging.
I am just looking forward to a full night of sleep when I don't wake up in pain from my ears and when Hudson doesn't either. So until then, I will take random pics of us in our pjs.

What happened to the people I know that NEVER get sick??!! Oh yeah, they are hiding inside my house from THREE straight weeks of sickness.
