Our Daredevil

Hudson is such a daredevil lately. He will just dive towards anything and anyone whether they are looking or not! He loves to steamroll people, especially Mike. If I am on the floor, he will just jump on my back and grab on to my neck. I really have to be aware of an attack at all times! He is definitely all boy!! The other day we were outside and he took a dive right into the cement step. I think he decided that wasn't so fun once he got an instant scrape and bruise on his cheek. (Note the scrapes on his forehead and his bruised cheek. I guess pictures don't really do them justice!)He will also jump off just about anything and he loves to climb on everything. It makes me so nervous! I try to just let him do his thing and hope he doesn't get hurt. Last night, Mike let him try out his crutches. Hudson was loving it! I wish I could have gotten the look on his face when he first starting doing it. It was priceless. Hudson has the most expressive face too. People in stores will come up and tell us that. My grandma is just certain that he will do some acting with the way he changes his face all the time. But no matter what happens, I love all his crazy looks he makes. They always crack me up!

Family Updates

Mike is doing a little bit better. The bruising has definitely gotten darker and is all over now and it is still somewhat swollen. He has been trying to put a tiny bit of weight on it from time to time but he definitely still can't walk without crutches. I think he will be glad when he can just do everything again by himself. He is keeping busy with school and work. But the semester is going by fast and before we know it, he will only have 1 year left.
Hudson is doing great. He is always getting into rocks and dirt. He loves to line up his rocks on the sidewalk in a huge row. He will have like 20 rocks just sitting out there. He is talking better and better everyday and loves to sing songs and do his alphabet puzzle. It amazes me that only after 2 or 3 times of doing his puzzle, he knows right where each letter goes and rarely makes a mistake. Kids are so smart! He still loves Einsteins and is loving playing with his trains too. He always wants to go to bed with his "Nee, Nee, Nee" (or his monkey) and Fuzz. Lately he has been giving me a little bit of trouble going down for his naps, which apparently is normal for this age....wish someone would have told me to start expecting it!! We have been trying to do better and have him do more of a routine and in the same order. I am going to make him a bedtime and nighttime chart so he can see what he is supposed to do next. I will post that when I get done with it. I looked all over the internet for one and never could find one I liked so I am just going to make my own. He is a funny kid and a very sweet boy. He is always giving hugs and kisses to us, to other people and to his toys or pictures in books. It is so fun to see how much their personalities are definitely all their own and how independent they like to be too.
I am still doing good. I think my belly is popping out a little bit which is fun but also sometimes just makes me look fat right now. I didn't like this stage much last time either, where you are in between actually looking prego and just like you gained a few extra pounds. I am sure that it will go by quickly and before I know it I will be wishing I was back in this stage again. haha For those of you that asked, I will post belly pictures soon. I feel the baby move around a lot more now and Mike was even able to feel him/her kick on Sunday. That was pretty cool and it always makes it seem that much more real. In just over a week we will find out if the baby is a boy or a girl. I am super excited to know but don't really care one way or the other. I am not going to post what I think it is because I am definitely not certain like I was with Huds but I have a small hunch. So we will just wait and see. Other than that, I am keeping super busy entertaining Hudson and helping Mike out more than usual with his hurt ankle. We have been having good weather again so Huds and I have been out for hour plus long walks to soak in as much of it as we can just in case it gets cold again!

For the love of the game

So normally I would not post pictures of anyone's feet except maybe Hudson's. But I couldn't pass up putting these pictures on here. Mike took one for the team playing volleyball the other night. Luckily, it wasn't dislocated or broken. But most of us think it might have been a little out of socket and worked it's way back in because it was turned pretty weird and the bone poked out kind of funny. Mike must have a great sense of humor because I thought he was kidding around as he is writhing in pain on the ground. But in my defense, so did a bunch of other people, so at least when I didn't rush to his side right away it didn't seem as if I was that bad of a wife!! hehe I just thought he was playing a prank on me and everyone else. Poor guy couldn't move his leg and was as white as a ghost. Thank goodness for such great friends that took care of us. A friend rushed him to the ER while I left Hudson at another friend's house and met up with them at the hospital. He beat the Friday night rush though and was done right when we got there. He was a little loopy on painkillers which was cracking us up. He is now hobbling around on crutches and scooting up the stairs on his butt. Its pretty funny to watch.

Saturday night he was freaking me out because he couldn't keep any color in his face. He was pale as can be, even his lips were white. I thought he was going to pass out and I wasn't quite sure how I was going to get him around!! He is doing much better now though.
This bruising is all from yesterday morning. It is even worse today. It still is pretty swollen too. Mike can't really bend it yet but I am hoping it heals quickly. You never realize exactly how much your man does until he is completely out on the couch. I was so grateful some good friends brought us dinner last night so I could have a break from serving everyone. I was wiped out from the late nights and running around. Thank you to everyone for being there for us! You guys made everything so much easier and we really appreciate it!!

The Artist

Hudson loves to draw. Mostly on paper but his next favorite spot would be all over himself. He got into my makeup bag and used my eyeliner to create these lovely sketches. He also uses lipstick sometimes.
He also likes to use highlighter or other markers on his clothes, especially his cream colored shirts. Don't even know how he finds these markers. We really don't have that many around. He also loves to grab pens and draw on important papers that I need as well as on the couch. Luckily, it comes right out of the couch. Thank goodness for scotch guard!! At least he is trying to be creative with his artistic utensils.

Candy Man

Hudson is our little candy man. He must take after me.... This morning Mike and I were finishing up getting ready for church and Hudson had just gone down the stairs. He was being pretty quiet and when I came down, I found him sitting on a chair with a full mouth of sweettart hearts out of the candy dish. He sees me coming and grabs another one and shoves it in too. He had the candy dust all over his face and little fingers. I couldn't help but laugh at him!

My Valentine

Mike is the best Valentine! He brought me some beautiful tulips home on Friday. We date swapped with some friends so Mike and I went out to celebrate the big day on Friday. We ate at Brick Oven which was really yummy! I would definitely recommend it. We missed our movie so we had a good time perusing around Target. So funny that after you have kids, even going to the store can be considered a "date". haha

On Valentine's Day, we got some yummy treats for our movie night. We watched Fireproof and Nights in Rodanthe. We liked both of them. We also got a heart shaped pizza from Papa Murphy's. We kind of like the tradition to celebrate the day.

MIA

So I said I was going to blog more and then....I disappear for a week or so. Guess that didn't last very long. But in our defense, we have all had the flu. Hudson was acting kind of weird last Sunday when we got to church so Mike and I were watching him pretty closely, especially once he got the hiccups. We were not about to have him throw up in the chapel! (Serious embarrassment and nastiness!) Mike takes him out in the hall and a few minutes later...vomit is ALL over Mike and Hudson. Mike totally took one for the team! Glad I missed out on that whole adventure. I did go outside to help clean up but by then, there wasn't a whole lot I could do. Later that afternoon, I start feeling sick and end up throwing up a bunch too. Huds was better by that night and I was still sick for a few more days. Mike got it on Monday and had to stay home from school. But, thankfully, we are all feeling better now.

Not to brag but....

Seriously for those of you in cold, dreary weather (like Boise with the inversions right now), I am trying not to brag. But, and that is a very big BUT, the weather here has been in the 60's to 70's the last few days. So even though I will try not to brag, it is SUPER hard not to! You cannot even imagine what a reprieve it is from the cold, well maybe you can but still! I have been loving it! We have been on walks lasting over an hour just because I can't enjoy it enough! I have major spring fever, can you tell??

Okay, so enough bragging and boasting and I will get to the real reason for my silly post today. We went to the zoo this morning since it has been awhile since we ventured there due to the cold. Hudson was chasing after one of his friends and spots this big lake they have there. I see him heading towards it full steam. I am thinking at first, nah he won't keep going. Then I realize he is NOT stopping at all. So I take off, running as fast as my out of shape body can possibly run. I got him just as he is jumping into the water. He got about to his thighs when I was able to catch up to him. I think the little man would have just kept running in deeper. He about gave me a heart attack (from worry and from having to run!!). His pants, shoes and socks were drenched. His long sleeved onesie was also completely soaked on the sleeves. I only had to put one foot into the water so I was able to stay pretty dry. But Hudson was loving it. He was just smiling and enjoying it all. He didn't even notice how panicked I was. I think he wanted to go back in. He kept saying water, water. Oh, man. I look forward to the day when he hears me say stop and actually listens every time!! But at least he keeps me on my toes!

Recap

So we are obviously back home now. It is good to be back but we were sad to say goodbye to everyone too.

Our last night, we had a sort of mock New Year's. We always have Chinese food, fortune cookies complete with our fortunes for the year, and make predictions of what we think the year will bring. I wasn't feeling all that well and as a joke for my dad I predicted that no one would puke this year...guess that one got ruined. (See story below.) That is kind of an inside joke with my Dad because he always thought I talked about puking growing up....so anyway, it was a lot of fun and we got some great predictions for the year (minus the random no puking one). I can't wait to see how many of them come true! We had such a great time seeing everyone. Thanks again for everything!! It was a lot of fun!

On our trip back, we had mostly uneventful flights, I never know what I am so worried about. Our last flight going into Kansas City was VERY bumpy at the end and Hudson ended up barfing all over me, himself, and 2 seats 3 different times. It was so lovely. (I am hoping you can catch my extreme sarcasm here.) I had barf all over my pants and shirt. Luckily I was able to strip Hudson down to a onesie and he was pretty much okay but I on the other hand, had the enjoyment of riding 1 1/2 hours home smelling like barf. It was so pleasant. (Again, sarcasm.) I was just glad to be home, showered, and in clean clothes!

Constant Play

Hudson found all sorts of random things to play with at my Dad's besides just your regular kid toys. He was all over the mini trampoline. He wanted to jump on it any time he saw it. He also liked to drive his cars around and around on it too.
He is definitely a member of our family in that he is already enamored with the computer. He was wanting to be all over the laptop. He also would do this ABC game on the Internet ALL the time. He would always be turning the computer on and off and asking to play it.
Hudson found a new use for his fork during dinner at one of my favorite pizza places, Chicago Connection. He thought it worked great as a comb. He kept putting it all over his head. Guess he takes after Ariel in Little Mermaid.
For some strange reason, Hudson absolutely loves their blender. He is always wanting to push buttons on it, put the lid on and off, and of course, put random bags of potatoes inside of it!! (But what else would you expect...we are in Idaho!! hehe)
And a more normal sort of play...reading time. Hudson loves to read books. Once we pulled out these books if he wasn't reading them alone, he was wanting someone to read them to him all the time. He was loving having all these different people there to read him books.

Nedders Spaghetters

Hudson absolutely LOVES their cat, Neddee. He was chasing her all over the place trying to pet her and give her kisses. He would lay on his stomach on the floor right in front of her and just stare at her. He loves to help feed her and he loves trying to get her to play with him using her cat toys. Hudson was taking a bath one morning and Neddee was up on the edge of the tub peering in at him and Hudson says, "No, no, no kitty." I guess he didn't want her jumping in the water with him!

Neddee
is curious about Hudson but I am not sure she feels the same amount of love that he does. But she at least knows well enough to be nice to him. I think she misses his sweet pets, him chasing her up and down the stairs, and waking her up from her naps.

Story Hour

The library in Boise has story hour that they offer a few different times a week. We took Hudson to one. He really enjoyed the songs and watching all the other kids there. He was really getting into jumping to one of the songs. He is quite the jumper these days. Even when he runs, it is a sort of jig that includes running and jumping.

Rockies

When I was younger, my Dad and I used to go to Rockies Diner together. It was such a fun little daddy-daughter place to go to. They have great food and fun flavored drinks. The waitresses also wear roller skates. So he took Hudson and I out to breakfast there. It was a ton of fun and Hudson was loving watching everything going around him. He gobbled up pancakes and really wanted to ride on the black flame bike behind him.
This is his new "cheese" face he likes to give for the camera. Not sure where he picked it up but it is pretty funny to see!

Dr Visit #2

Today was my 2nd visit to the Dr. I actually got to meet the Dr this time, not that it really makes much of a difference anyway. But he was pretty nice. He found the heartbeat right away and it was pumping away at about 140 bpm. It is always reassuring to hear it and know that everything is going okay. I always start getting nervous a few weeks before my appointment that they won't hear the heartbeat. So I was glad that it was quick and easy to find! As a total side note, I only gained about 1 1/2 pounds in the last month which was completely reassuring since I eat a ton and got spoiled in Idaho with nothing but food, food and more food!! I am REALLY excited for my next appointment when we find out what we are having, too bad I have to wait a month. Those who know me well, know I hate waiting for things like this. Even as a kid, I would snoop around to find Christmas presents just because I can't stand waiting! Oh well, maybe I will learn patience or something...or maybe the month will just fly by!
