Hadley had her first Dr visit. It went really well. We love the pediatrician here in Boise (but the one in Topeka is awesome too!). He couldn't say enough good things about her.
Her coloring is great. Yahoo for no jaundice. She is eating really well and gaining weight. She had gotten down to 6 lbs 4 oz in the hospital and is now at almost 6 lbs 15 oz in about 7.5 days.
She eats CONSTANTLY during the day. Sometimes I think I will go nuts feeding her all the time but at least she lets me sleep at night. Guess I can't complain too much. Her head is 13.5 inches. What can I say? We have kids with nice sized noggins.
He even commented on how "unconehead" shaped it was. Nice round heads just happen to be our specialty I guess. He said her chest, eyes, ears, etc all sounded/looked great. She is pretty much a boring case since everything is so good. But that is what we like to hear.
She didn't cry at all while he was listening to her and checking everything out. The only thing she didn't like was when the nurse came in and pricked her foot for the PKU again. Not fun for her or for us to watch!

Buddies
My friend Bre was able to stop by and see us on a quick trip to Boise. It was so fun to see her sweet little guy Eli. Hadley and Eli are really close in age and they weigh about the same right now. So it was fun to see them next to each other. We went through our whole pregnancies together so it was good to see the final "product." hehe I love this picture because I think they have similar facial expressions in it. Newborns are so sweet! I just love those sweet little chicken legs they both have too!

First Bath at Home
Hadley is such a mild tempered baby. She absolutely just loved having a bath. I remember Hudson not being so sure of having his head washed the first couple of times.
But Hadley was at total ease with the whole thing.
The only time she even showed disapproval was when she was getting cold and we weren't quite done yet.
But just wrap her up tight and she was as happy as can be!

My new best friend
This is my new best friend:
It thinks for me so I don't have to! I remember with Hudson I could never remember when he was changed, eaten or how long he had slept. So this remembers all of that. It tells you how long "itzbeen" since you did all of those things. Plus there is a clock, an extra timer, a nursing side reminder and nightlights. Gotta love that! It has made my after pregnancy, somewhat sleep-deprived brain not have to work so hard!!

1 Week Old
Hadley is officially a week old (well she was as of yesterday). Its kind of a weird feeling because once you hit a week it seems like in no time you hit a month and then 6 months and next thing you know they are 2 years old like Hudson.
So crazy how fast it all flies by. I had always heard people say that but now I know it is so true! This week has actually been really great. Hadley didn't sleep a lot the first night home which is pretty typical.
The next night was the first night with her and Hudson and that was a little rough because Hudson didn't fall asleep til about 11 and Hadley was kind of wide awake til after then too. It was a little rough waking up early the next morning with Huds but we managed.
Then the next night and all the nights after, Hadley has let us sleep about 3-4 hour stretches. AMAZING! I was definitely grateful for this. I am not one who does well without sleep.
This is her showing off the hat I crocheted her (same hat in the first picture of her). I kept thinking there was no way it would fit her when I finished it because it seemed so tiny, but I guess I was wrong. It fits perfectly!
Gotta love sibling photos! I can't believe how old Hudson looks now especially next to Hadley.

Sharing
Hudson is usually a very sharing kid. He even likes to share his favorite train with his baby sister. He is always giving them to her so she can play too. What a thoughtful older brother!
I just liked this picture because it shows that newborn "smile" that they get sometimes. Hudson is entertaining her there.
And I just love this picture of my two boys. Glad they are such buddies!

Asleep
I just love how much newborns sleep and the funny faces they make. I love the "startle" that they get every once in a while and their little bodies flinch. It is so cute! I just think you can never get enough pictures of them sleeping in all sorts of positions.
Don't know if any of you remember this photo of Hudson and Mike. They both have their arms above their heads and their ankles crossed.
Guess Hadley at least has the arm thing in common with them. What a cutie!

Our Bud Hud
Hudson has been having a blast with all his grandparents and uncle. He goes on walks with his Grandparents every morning and gets to see all kinds of cool things. He loves these tiny frogs. They are all over the place by this one canal. He held this one for a second and then just dropped him on the ground. I think the frog will live but he is probably traumatized from the fall!
He climbs trees and gets to pose for a picture in one.
He swings with his Grandpa. He loves to go way up high in them!
He loves to "play" with all of their things. I think they won't know what to do without little hands into all of their stuff.
And of course, he loves to jump on the tramp especially when there is water underneath. He didn't want to stop jumping. He is such a water junkie! Good thing his Uncle Bry loves Huds or else he would get sick of him always wanting to jump and bossing him around to do things with him.

Hadley in the Hospital
Here are some more pictures of Hadley and some of her hospital visitors. Thanks again to everyone for coming and seeing us!
Here is Hudson opening the gift that Hadley brought him. He absolutely LOVED it! Nothing much can beat a Thomas DVD and 2 new trains! It was nice to have him get a new toy to keep him entertained at the hospital too. We are so grateful for all of our family here and their help with Hudson. It has been so nice not to worry about him while we were in the hospital!
Here is Hadley after her first bath just keeping warm under the warmer.
Here is one of Hadley's uncles holding her for Hudson to give her another kiss! Here are a bunch of her grandparents enjoying snuggling her too!

Mike is changing Hadley's diaper here for the first time. Gotta love the nurses that take care of that while you are in the hospital! Both times Mike changed her there, she pooped and peed all over. I couldn't help cracking up at him!
A shot of Hads and me snuggling in our hospital gowns.
I seriously was looking forward to all of the food in the hospital. I know it sounds lame, but they have the best food and you get a ton of it and there is so much variety to choose from. It is one of my favorite things to look forward to after birth. Its nice to not have to worry about meals and have them brought to you on demand. Gotta love that HUGE plate of fries!!
We were all excited to go home yesterday. We got Hadley decked out in her going home outfit. It was so fun to see her in a cute little girl outfit.
Daddy is all ready wrapped around this little girl's finger. I can just imagine how much she is going to be able to get away with! It seriously is like love at first sight for them! She loves to have him rock her and will calm down just as easily with him as she does with me.
Here is Hadley and me just about to head out in our luxury wheelchair.
Our first night home with Hads was a little rough. But I have heard that is pretty common and kind of remember that with Hudson. She finally dozed off for a while about 3 am. I was so glad that Hudson was still with his Grandma so he got a good night's sleep. Her little belly is still adjusting to eating so she was just a little fussy from that. But mostly she seems to just sleep and eat. So far, I think she is going to be as sweet a baby as Hudson was. (Or I am at least hoping it will continue that way. Hudson was a great sleeper, eater, and was such a happy baby. Could we be lucky enough to have two of them??!) By the way, I am feeling good and so far feel like I am recovering even faster than I did with Hudson. The hard part is not overdoing it when you feel like you can do everything just like you did before. But it is nice to feel well and not really be in pain.

Introducing....
Well Hadley decided to come on her own a little early. Not at all the experience we had with Hudson. I was upstairs talking to my mom and all of a sudden I was like, hmm I think I just wet my pants or maybe my water broke. I went and told Mike my water broke and he says, whatever. He totally didn't believe me! So we went and got our bag and headed to the hospital. We were admitted (after which the nurses told me they checked out my rear end to see if I had really broken my water. Guess a lot of girls lie so they were checking me out. How freaking embarrassing!!)
Then I started having contractions around 8:30 or 9pm. I was at a 3.5 around then. We did a ton of walking and I was at a 4.5 at 11 and then a 5-5.5 at 12:30. Then I decided to get in the tub, which I hated last time. But it must have done the trick. Because in about 20 minutes I went from a 5.5 to a 10. Wahoo! The nurse,Sunny, kept saying she would check me soon and I was like. uh you need to check me now. So she calls the Dr who was on call and then called him at least 2 more times. I guess he didn't realize he was needed right then! He comes in kind of nonchalant like and the other nurse says to him, I think you need to get your gloves on now Dr. He was like woah and starts getting everything set. She was born about 15 minutes later. So no epidural but that pushing is a lot worse than I remember. Man, I am glad you forget about that each time. Otherwise you would definitely not want to do it again! But she is such a sweet baby and we are so glad to have her in our family. Oh, she was 6 lbs 10 oz and 19 inches long. 6 hours from the time the water broke until she made her appearance.
We finally got to bed about 4:30 and I had to feed her at least once. So unfortunately I only got about 3 or 4 hours of sleep but it was all worth it. Hudson came to see her later in the day. I was honestly really worried what he would think. But he absolutely adores her. He kept kissing her and wanting to hold her. He is a HUGE fan of hers. He has been kissing my belly and giving her bumps for a few weeks and always saying her name so I guess that paid off.

It is so nice to hold a sweet little baby again. Hudson seems HUGE to me now though. Its so crazy. It was such a relief to have her come on her own and not be late! I could tell the time was coming and I even had told Mike earlier that I thought my water was going to break that day...not really sure if it was intuition or just a random thought. But either way it worked out!
