Showered with gifts

Some great friends of mine here in Topeka threw a double shower for me and another friend in the JRC who is due 11 days before me with a boy. This is our side shot of the growing bellies. I feel like my shirt makes me look huge though. I swear I am not that gigantic yet! Of course, yet being the key word there. I am sure it is coming!!We had some AMAZING food. This picture was taken before it was even all out too. So good!
We got some really cute outfits and other baby essentials. I cannot wait for this little baby to arrive and strut her stuff! Pink is definitely going to be all the craze in our house! But we did get some really cute bright green outfits...they are so fun too! It is amazing how much stuff you still need when you have a baby of a different gender! We have been so blessed with great friends who help take care of us out here in Kansas. Thank you to everyone for your support for our new little girl to arrive. It really means a ton to us!

JRC Closing Social

We had a great time at the closing BBQ social. The JRC is such a great group of people. We would be lost out here in Kansas without it! We have made such good friends with so many people from all over. We are really going to miss all of those moving on in life (jobs, houses...oohhh, I am jealous!!). But we are excited for the new families this next year and everyone that is staying around for another year too!Our fam is not really in any of these because we were trying to take a few shots for the JRC bulletin board. So sorry for the randomness but hey, I know who everyone is. Oh, and here is a random photo of Hudson showing me how he dribbles. Sammy was teaching him how to and he thought it was the coolest thing! Slightly a dark picture but it was starting to get late.

Mr. Dead Head

We met some friends last week to check out the beautiful tulips at the park. They are gorgeous! Hudson was kind of being a dead head and would not smile for me at all. I have to give him props though since we had been outside all morning too and it was a really hot day. (I got sunburned that morning if that tells you how hot it was!) But still, these were the best I could get of him...
No smiles here! At least the tulips look beautiful! I didn't really plan ahead to have him dress well either though so I guess these will just be nice tulip pictures and not so much Hudson pictures!!

Projects Galore

Ever since I found out we were having a girl, my mind has been racing with project ideas. So the last few weeks I have been inundated with fabric and thread! It has been so much fun and I still have a few more projects I am hoping to get done in the next couple of weeks. Of course with having a baby, includes a fatter belly so I decided to make some maternity skirts. Super easy and very inexpensive!I also made a fun taggie blanket for the baby. I have always thought these were cute and figured they were pretty easy to make. So voila:I just love all of the fun girlie touches you can add to everything too!I figured Huds needed something fun too. He loves coloring and I love to have things in my purse to keep him occupied during the most random moments out and about. So what better way to take crayons than in a crayon roll:
I also decided to make a purse. It may double as a small diaper bag sometimes too. Seriously, there are too many projects to do and not enough time!! I am super excited though because I got some (well technically, my mom got it for me!) really pretty fabric for a blessing dress. I cannot wait to see it in person and start on it!

Yucky!

I found Hudson in the bathroom this morning dipping his hand in the toilet and licking the water off his hand. YUCK! He said he was thirsty. Never mind the fact that his cup was full of milk right by all of his toys. At least it wasn't pee water though....

The 2 year old.

Hudson is seriously a riot to have around. He makes the best faces. He is almost always happy, but he is human so every once in a while he does have his moments! He is so creative and always likes to be doing something. He talks really well and is always saying something or asking about what I am doing. He loves to say "I did it!" when he does something he has been working hard at.He is the sweetest boy. He almost always tells me sorry without being prompted if he has done something hurtful. He also says please and thank you all the time. Sometimes, he tells me my hair is pretty and that my clothes are cute. (Gotta love that!) He also loves to give kisses and hugs, my fave!He loves to talk to people everywhere we go. He loves to help say the prayer at home. He also loves to sing and loves pianos or other musical instruments. He knows most of his letters and numbers (1-10).He loves to play with cars, trains, read books, do puzzles and color or paint. He loves to sing songs and knows a ton of them. He is always asking for his favorites which usually are: BINGO, I have a Family here on Earth, ABC's, Monkeys on the Bed, Take me out to the Ball Game, Old MacDonald, Row Row Row Your Boat, I am a Child of God, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, I am like a Star Shining Brightly, and Jesus Wants me for a Sunbeam. He still takes about a 2 hour nap in the afternoon and goes to sleep around 7 for about 12 hours at night. He likes to climb on things. He is always trying to figure out how things work. He is quite into the potty right now, but because of all of the change about to happen, I haven't really been pursuing it a ton. He has gone pee and poop in there quite a few times though and he loves to wear big boy underwear. He is always talking about his Cars and Thomas big boy "underpants" as he calls them. He has this book called the Potty Train that he likes to read so he goes around saying, "Chugga Chugga Pee Pee" and "Chugga Chugga Poop Poop." It is pretty funny to hear in his little voice. He is a picky eater now. He doesn't really like to eat most of what we eat. He does really like hot dogs, pizza, PB and J sandwiches, lunch meat, PB and Honey tortillas, fish sticks, chicken nuggets and fries. He also loves fruit but not so much most veggies. He is such a big boy now! I can't believe how fast the last year went by. But I am excited to see what he will be like in another year!

The goods.

Hudson always gets spoiled by grandparents and other family members. He had a blast opening up all of his presents. It was so fun this year because he knew exactly what to do with them too. Here are just a few of the ones we captured of him:Hudson has the best facial expressions too. They make every time he opens a gift, so hilarious to watch. You never know what face you will get out of him!He was SO excited about his Little Einsteins laptop. He couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear.Oh, and of course after the presents were all opened, he took full advantage of all of the wrapping paper! I swear kids will play with anything and think it is the greatest thing you could have given them... He stomped in it, he rolled in it and he threw it up in the air. He had a blast!

Off to the races

Hudson is really into trains right now and really into Cars (Disney Movie). I figured I would make him a cake with one of those ideas. This is what I came up with:
Hudson kept trying to grab his cars off of the cake before we were even ready to eat it or had pictures. So we are lucky it survived as long as it did!
I couldn't find my candles so here is our ghetto attempt for his 2nd birthday:
Huds was definitely completely different eating his cake this year than last. He wanted a fork first off. He does not really like to eat anything without a fork these days.He only made a slight mess and that was pretty much contained all on his plate. And instead of throwing the last of it on the floor like last year, he just smashed it into his plate. Then he wanted me to wash off his hands almost immediately. He is not a fan of being sticky. He is definitely his father's child because Mike cannot stand stickiness. It is so fun to see how much he has grown up in the last year.
