Memorial Day and Adult Chatter...

Well we had our annual family Memorial Day picnic at the park and it turned out to be really fun despite the wind. Hudson seemed to enjoy himself although I think he really didn't care where he was since he slept through most of it! Mike had a good time playing ball despite his inability to get some air off the ball which I think is sometimes better since those pop flys seem to get caught anyway! He is such a great ball player and loves it. I keep trying to talk him into joining a city team...maybe one of these days he actually will! We were glad to see family as it may be one of the last times we see some of them for awhile. I was bad though and didn't take my camera, the diaper bag is just out of control that having the camera in there sometimes is just too much!

We are starting to get down to the wire as far as packing goes so we are going to be working on packing a bunch of stuff again. I must say I hate packing and I almost enjoy that "last minute throw whatever you have left into the box and label it random" type of packing. It goes quickly and it really doesn't seem to matter much if all the kitchen stuff is in one box or mixed in with bathroom stuff because you are unpacking all the boxes anyway. Its like just get it all in boxes and get it out of there so you can be done. The only thing I care about is that things don't get scratched or ruined, not too much to ask I would think!

Mike told his work today that he was leaving. I think it was bittersweet for him since he loves it there and has promotion potential but he just feels like law school is the right choice for him. I woke up last week panicked that we were making the right decision. I think I freaked Mike out since I am usually very stable in that sense and he wasn't quite awake anyway! It was pretty comical really.

Well today is pretty mundane really. I think Hudson is getting sick or trying not to get sick because he just seems to eat and sleep more than usual today...especially sleep and is a little whiny which is totally not like him. He is asleep right now actually so that is kind of nice. I was able to get the laundry done and trim this bush down out front which was seriously out of control! Yep, I have some pretty hefty tasks to do! I am going today to order cake for his blessing day and that is about all there is on my agenda!

So I guess I have decided that the only thing I miss about going to work is the adult conversations you have. I miss just chatting or joking around with people. I do it with Hudson but he really is not much of a conversationalist yet. Just a lot of cooing and an underlying laughing sound that comes somewhere down in his throat, which although very cute, doesn't give me much to go on! But I will be spoiled having Mike around in Kansas before he starts school on the 13th of August. I think we will have about 7 weeks together from his last day of work til his first day of school! I am so excited. We are making plans of things to do in Kansas so that should be fun. I am excited to just go exploring. Well I guess I better get going and go fold that last pile of laundry...I hate how it seems to just keep nagging at me in the back of my mind!
These are a few pictures of our place in Topeka. We actually haven't gotten the okay on it yet but our background check is almost done and I seriously am doubting that there will be any problems. They are older but they are a coop housing so you pay a chunk to get in and then pay hardly anything for rent. It should be a good setup since it has a lot of room, even a basement. There is hardwood floors all upstairs and the two bedrooms and a bathroom. Then there is the kitchen, family room and another bathroom on the main level. Then you can use the basement as another living room place or storage and the washer and dryer are down there. I am super excited about it! Mainly because we can paint or do anything like that we want....I am already planning some painting projects!!

Funny Poses

Hudson is always doing the funniest poses. He always has his ankles crossed...he was even like that in our ultrasound pictures. It is so cute but makes it a bit difficult to change his diapers at times!

Here is our little buddha!

Its funny when they are figuring out their hands...

Today was technically the first day he took a nap in a real place. I mean he has slept in many places while napping but it was his first official nap in his playpen/bassinet! I am getting him used to that so he will sleep in there all the time now. They are just so fun to hold when they are asleep so I was enjoying that before...but realized it is going to be really hard to get him to sleep on his own if I don't start morphing some of his sleeping habits.

There is no place like home...

So I don't know if everyone knows where we have chosen to go exactly. So I figured I would post that. We are going to Topeka, Kansas. Mike was accepted to different schools but we felt the best about Washburn University so he will be starting school there this August to get his law degree. So I guess we will call dear old Kansas home sweet home for 3 years. We are excited but sad because we will miss everyone in Boise so much!

Washburn is a great university and we have been so impressed by everything from them so far. We are anxious to just get everything moved and have that part over with! I hate packing and unpacking so I am sure with a baby it will be a real treat!! You can check out their website by using that link.

Woah....

Hudson turned one month old yesterday!! I cannot believe how fast it flew by. When people say they look back at the last 18 years and wonder where they went, I know what they are talking about now. I cannot believe he is already a month and he is getting so big! He rolled over on his 4 week birthday! I couldn't believe it! I had such a proud mom moment too. I was wanting to call everyone and tell them! It was one of those times where you couldn't be happier! Weird that all of that comes with him just rolling over but its such an accomplishment. We took him to get pictures on Saturday so when I get those I will post them. They turned out so great! I was so happy!! We also took pictures with our family which I need to post some of those too!

I cannot believe my first official mother's day has come and gone too! Mike spoiled me with a journal with my name on it since mine is totally full now! And he got me a willow tree statue, I just love those things! He also is pampering me with a pedicure! What a guy! We also had a nice dinner with my mom, Ray and brothers. It was fun to see everyone and we were glad we could spend some time with Bry before he is off on his adventure to Phoenix doing an internship. I am so excited for him! I loved it down there but the heat this time of year must be enough to do anyone in so hopefully he can handle jumping from one A/C place to another! That is the only way anyone could make it down there in the summer!! :)

Mike is still doing well at his job at Stevens-Henager. They gave him a raise and a gift certificate for dinner so he took me out last night to Macoroni Grill. It was so good. I haven't been there since my graduation from high school! Even though he has potential to move up in the company, he is still excited for his investment in the future with law school. For those of you who haven't heard, we have chosen to go to Washburn University in Topeka, KS. We are so excited! We applied for housing and hope to hear back from them soon. Its a coop housing which will be a great deal for us to save some money and have a nice sized place. We know that we will miss everyone here so much but are anxious for the opportunity and adventure! He got his first assignment which involved reading about 500 pages and doing a bunch of assignments! And for some reason the 4.0 student started to panic wondering if he could do this!! I was just like, puh-lease!! Its nice to know that he is humble though!! He is so fun with Hudson and its so great to see the two of them together and how they interact with one another. I know they are just going to be best buds as Hudson gets older. We started calling Hudson "Hudini" because when you swaddle him up really tight in a blanket, he manages to get his arms out but still stay swaddled up just as tight! Its so funny!

Life is starting to get some order now and we are getting into a routine. Doesn't that always happen just before some big change? That is the best part of life though I guess!

Well here are some pictures from our family photo shoot (I don't have the ones with my mom yet...so those will come later too!) and I will post the ones of Hudson when we get them back from the photographer! I guess it was just a picture taking day all around!
