Family Picnic

After we flew in from Seattle on Memorial Day, my Mom's family had their annual picnic at the park. It was a lot of great food and fun. Hudson was having a blast lining up all of these balls and checking out the fish on the nature walk nearby. He was loving having so many kids to play with.It was so fun to see everyone and to watch everyone compete in the annual softball game. Mike had been looking forward to it for a few weeks. He was sad he left his bat at home but he was still able to hit a home run. I love this picture of him running out the bases trying to beat the ball home.

Our Getaway

Some of you may remember the crazy flight we had to Phoenix last year. Well we were able to plan a trip for our 6th year anniversary / babymoon getaway because of it. Guess it isn't looking so bad now! Anyway, we debated between Portland and Seattle and finally decided to go to Seattle because we thought there might be more things to see.Mike had only been there once on a business trip so he never got to take in the sights and I haven't been for quite a while. We had a blast!! It was so relaxing and fun to spend time just the two of us. (Especially since we knew Hudson was in great hands with my mom, stepdad, and his Uncle Bry.)

We checked out all the "important" places in Seattle. We went to IKEA. Gotta love that store! They have the coolest stuff and it is super cheap too! Then we hit up a Mariners game. Not that we could go somewhere and not go to a sporting event! We didn't buy tickets beforehand because we decided to try our luck at the window or on the streets. We ended up buying tickets from a guy who buys them for a steal in bulk and sells them to make profit. We got them for about $20 cheaper this way. Plus we were able to move after a few innings down to the really good seats for the rest of the game. I guess it isn't illegal since there were a bunch of cops right there watching us and everyone else buy them. This is the HUMONGOUS bag of kettle corn we got. I was thinking I could handle it....fat chance. We still have over half of it left!We stayed at this great hotel just about 10 miles outside of Seattle on the outskirts of Bellevue. It was right by the temple too. It was a great place to stay. Then we hit up the Premier Outlets which are a little north of Seattle. It was a nice little drive and they had the greatest stores. We got some amazing deals on some baby clothes. Can't beat less than $1 for each item. WAHOO! I cannot get enough of Children's Place and their deals! We headed back to Seattle after we got our shopping fill and decided to go to Pike's Place Market. Parking was a bit of a disaster but we were able to find a cheap place in between the Space Needle and Pike's Place. So we felt a little out of place not being dressed a little more "granola" here but it was still a blast. There were people everywhere. You could barely even walk through the market inside.I got Mike to pose by the seafood. I guess if he won't eat it, he can at least pose for a picture by it. I will admit though, even the smell was getting to me.Then we decided to take a jaunt over to the Space Needle. It is such a beautiful view up there. You can see the whole city and skyline. But you can also see the water and all the buildings around it. Absolutely beautiful! I loved looking down at all the people and cars. They looked like miniatures on an architectural model. It was such a fun trip! This is a cool shot as we were flying home and passing right by Mt. Rainier. Pretty spectacular view!

Flu 1, Me 0

So sucks to be me! I got the flu and was up all night upchucking, barfing, hurling, spewing, whatever you want to call it. I am not a fan of throwing up but it is way worse when you are pregnant and have no stomach muscles to speak of. My sides have never hurt so bad. Yep, probably major "too much info" for you but just wanted to share how miserable I was. Luckily, my mom watched Hudson for me the next morning so I could get some sleep. Thank you, Thank you!! Unfortunately, the Swain Flu (not the Swine Flu) goes around quickly. Everyone ended up getting it. Stupid contagious germs. Hope no one else does. It is nasty!

More Busy Work

So I have been working on some more projects and got a few of them finished today. I have finished a ton of headbands and cute flowers to go on them but haven't taken any pictures of those so they will have to wait. But I was able to get some cute baby/toddler belts done. I found a tutorial online for them and they are SUPER easy and fast.I also made some baby legs for the winter months. Also easy and fast and I am definitely going to be making some more of these!I made this art smock for Hudson. A good friend sent me a pattern and it was so easy to make. I actually used a vinyl tablecloth instead of oilcloth because I couldn't find any and it was really cheap. Hudson already loves wearing it around and I look forward to it keeping all the messy art projects off of his clothes!

Escaped!

Hudson has never tried to get out of his crib at home. I like to think he just obeys us that well. haha I know everyone is probably chuckling at that thought! But after only a night, he was already escaping out of his play pen. We found him on the floor asleep like this. I am hoping that this will be just a summer thing and that it won't carry back over to his crib but I am not holding my breath.

Grandma's House

Huds absolutely loves to play at his Grandparent's houses. He is lucky to have more than one set to visit this summer. He already stayed the night alone with his Grandma which was a nice break for Mike and I. And I think he already has them all wrapped around his finger. On the way back from staying the night, he mentioned fries and chicken nuggets and his wish was granted! Spoiled!! Here are some cute pictures of Hudson playing baseball with Bry and Grandma and eating strawberries.

Underpants

We bought Huds some Thomas and Cars underwear awhile back. He kept talking about it and so we thought maybe we were ready to start potty training him. (Hudson calls his big boy underwear "underpants.") I started to try one day and basically got tired and didn't want to deal with it. I figured with all the change about to happen that I would hold off anyway. But then we went to the Dr and he kept telling me how ready Huds was and that we should do it soon. So I figured after our long trip we would kick it off. Randomly on Sunday we started having him go in his potty and he has been going ever since! He is such a big boy! He is so proud of himself too! He doesn't like to wear diapers at all anymore even though we have him wear them at night until he gets that all under control. He always refers to them as "yucky diapers." After he goes in the potty, he loves to run and get high fives from everyone and yell I went pee in the potty!! It's pretty funny to see. We are so proud of him for going potty and I am so excited to only have one child in diapers when the baby is born! WAHOO!

Laid Back

Hudson loves to kick back and relax. Here are a few funny photos over the past week or so of him showing his perfected laid back skills.

Dr. Update

Today was our first visit to our new Dr. I really really liked him. His nurse and all of the staff were so nice! I am so glad we are having our baby in Boise and with a Dr that I like right off the bat. I was a little nervous about the whole switching process but it was great. He even did a quick ultrasound today to see how things looked. She was moving around like crazy but he said it is definitely a girl. (He kept teasing us that it would be funny if it turned out to be a boy.) He said everything looks great and took a few 4D pictures of her face for us too. Those are so incredible! Now just under another 10 weeks and hopefully we will see her face in person!

Lettuce Mania

Hudson has become obsessed with eating salad. He LOVES it! I never really even offered it to him before because I didn't think he would like it. But the other day at lunch, Mike had some salad on his plate and Hudson wanted some. Then he kept begging for more! Now every meal we have salad with, Hudson usually ends up eating 2 servings of salad. Glad to see we are back up in our veggie servings!

The End Already

Mike is in the middle of taking his last final for his 2nd year of law school. I am SO excited!! No, ecstatic is probably more like it! I cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by. Hudson and I are so proud of Mike and all that he has accomplished. He manages to work, study, still help me around the house and play with Hudson. It is so nice to have him around. We are looking forward to a summer with free Saturdays to have just to go play together. WAHOO! I cannot believe that in less than one hour we can officially say we are 3L's. YAY! I thought the day would never come! Now Mike can sleep peacefully during the night and not wake up with Tax Code running through his mind. That is a nightmare I wouldn't want to have!

Touch a Truck

Hudson and I checked out some pretty sweet rides today. He was loving all the trucks and the horns honking!
Chilling with Chester the Cheetah and getting some free chips.
This was probably one of Hudson's favorite trucks: the garbage truck. He did say it was gross though. I think because it stunk. He had a great time just eating his sucker and watching the truck move the garbage up and down.
This was one of my faves! Huds got free ice cream which he so graciously shared with me! This is an old ice cream delivery truck that used to be pulled by horses. I wonder how they kept the ice cream cold?!
Hudson was not freaked out by this clown at all. He ran up to him and gave him a huge hug! I was kind of surprised because he freaked me out a little with his goatee covered in white paint.
There was a balloon maker there too. Huds was loving his dog. He kept hitting him all over the place.
He was a fan of this big tractor. He looks so small next to it! The boys to his right are pluggin' their ears from the loud horns honking but it didn't seem to phase Hudson.
There was this horse there to check out too. He was a big hit with all of the kids!
Of course, we had to get on the school bus. Hudson loves school buses. Every time he sees one drive by our house, or even hears something that might be a school bus he runs to the window to watch.
This was a really cool crane that kept picking up this huge log. That must have been some huge tree!
To top off the festivities, Pepsi was giving out Gatorade. Gotta love that!!
Oh, and apparently we are famous. The news team must have been following us around all towards the end of their video because we are in almost every shot they have!

More Projects

I have been totally into making different things lately. I have a list of projects that I want to complete before the baby comes. I have been working as much as I can around cleaning and packing to get them finished.

These car seat covers are the latest rave...well at least around here. I imagine other people have them in the West too. I love how mine turned out! Now I just need a baby to go under it!I have been wanting to make these I Spy bags for a long time now. A friend of mine had one and so it sort of pushed me into making it now instead of later because I thought it was so great!!This is the big one with 100 different random things inside of it. Mike was playing with it with Hudson the other day and Hudson was loving it! He kept saying I spy...and then whatever it was that he found. I wasn't sure if it was too old for him but he already loves it! This is the smaller one that is an ABC bag. It is always fun to find the different letters.

While I love making projects by myself, it really is more fun to make them with friends. We have had two project days with friends the last 2 weeks. I think this is going to become a regular thing in the Fall. It has been great! This is our "sprawl" making headbands the other day. We had lots of yummy treats and made some cute stuff! I am still finishing up my headbands and the flowers to go on it. Here are the three flowers I have finished so far. They are going to be so stinking cute on the baby! Here is a sneak peek of the hooded towels I just finished...one for Hudson and one for the baby. I am going to embroider their names on them too. So I will post better pics once I do that. Hudson was loving his towel already today. He kept wearing just the hood part around before it was finished. It was pretty funny looking!
