New Moon

I finished the 2nd book in the Twilight series earlier today. It was good but it didn't keep me hooked quite as bad as the first. It seemed like it took a little longer to develop the plot...but it was still enjoyable. I have had a few people tell me that they like the 1st and 3rd books the best so I am hoping that the 3rd doesn't disappoint.

Baby Blues

When Hudson was first born, I was hoping that he would have blue eyes. I have nothing against brown eyes, but I just really thought his eyes were beautiful being blue. My mom and I kept seeing hints of brown showing through so we were certain his eye color would change. I just have to say...I am so glad they didn't! I love everything about his baby blues.

Trash to treasure...

Hudson has a new habit of getting into the trash can. Its just the right height for him to pull up and look into. I try to keep him out of it but hey, there is only so much you can do. So of course yesterday he comes out of the kitchen with this box. I actually was the one to initiate showing him how to play with it. I figured if he was going to go digging, we might as well make it fun. We pounded on it with a wooden spoon, we filled it with toys and he drug it around the room. He and the box were inseparable for a good 15 minutes or so! It was fun while it lasted...Never mind all that slobber, he is getting 4 more teeth and they have yet to make their appearance. So instead, we get to deal with drool!

Twilight

I just finished reading Twilight today. I am in LOVE with this series already. I know some people didn't like it but I am seriously not getting why. Its an easy read and it kept me tuned in. It was quite the page turner. I am dying for the 2nd book and am going to have to run and get it tonight....too bad I didn't have the car today or else I would be enjoying it right now!

Movies Galore

So I think I must have been in a movie mode today because I took a bunch of clips of what Hudson has been up to lately. He likes to "cruise" on the couch, especially if there are things up there he loves...like his baseball. It is kind of funny because he really does prefer his baseball to the basketball or soccer ball. Maybe he will be into baseball after all, even without Mike's urgings!

Speaking of sports stuff...here is Hudson showing off his arm! Maybe he will be a pitcher one day!

Hudson got his truck in the mail and he loves it! He lit right up when he saw it. He has been doing really well walking around behind it and pushing it all over the place too!

All about Hudson!

Hudson is definitely our little explorer. He is into everything and wants to see what you are doing at all times. Yet he is perfectly content to play by himself for actually a good amount of time! This was nice this week because I was working on knitting a hat for YW. We are going to donate them to the humanitarian aid. But I loved it so much...I think I am going to make some more and I want to try and make a few things for Hudson too. I didn't realize you could make other things with these looms besides just hats and scarves!
He loves to knock over blocks.

He has been so good about entertaining himself while I make food. Its great because then I can actually get something done in the kitchen!!

Hudson got this phone from his Grandma and Grandpa M for Christmas. He loves it. I was showing him how you can pull it around and make the eyes move up and down. He figured out how he could do it too but sometimes he crawls over the cord!

Tagged!

What is his name? Michael Charles

How long have you been married? June 26, 2003 (5 years in June)

How long did you date? For about a month and then were engaged for 3 1/2 months

How old is he? almost 28

Who eats more? Mike but really not by much

Who said I love you first? Mike but it was kind of during a joke so it was kind of an accident that it slipped out right then

Who is taller? Mike, I am a shortie!

Who sings better? I do but Mike doesn't really sing as much as "say" the words so I don't have much competition!

Who is smarter? I don't know...I got a better ACT score than he did but in college he got better grades...I say its just because I was too busy hanging out to worry about homework all the time.
So I think we are probably pretty even.

Whose temper is worse? Depends on the situation but probably mine...he is more laid back than me

Who does the laundry? Mike most of the time but since he is in school, I have to do it more often

Who does the dishes? I do more of the time but he is probably up there at about 35% of the time

Who pays the bills? That is all me

Who mows the lawn? (not that we have one right now to worry about) Mike, thank goodness

Who cooks dinner? I do more of the time but he is good at helping out with that and he is always the griller in the summer.

Who drives when you are together? mostly Mike but I do every once in a while

Who is more stubborn? I am for sure but he has a stubborn streak in there too!

Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? I hope its true to say we both do. I don't think either of us really holds grudges about stuff

Whose parents do you see the most? I guess mine since we saw them last but we don't really see either that often due to our new locale!

Who proposed? Mike up Cedar Canyon

Who has more friends? I am up in the air on that one

Who has more siblings? Mike for sure!

Who wears the pants in the family? I agree with Britt....That depends on who you ask!

My noggin!

Hudson got the biggest bruise on his head the other day. We were playing around in a laundry basket and I turned around for a second...next thing I know, he has tipped it over and bonked his head on the hardwood floor. There was an instant quarter sized bruise and it looked indented! Totally freaked me out! Not to mention the guilt I felt, but I guess boys will be boys!
Then of course I had to show pics of his new buzz! His hair has not been growing in on the top front part as well so I decided to buzz it again because his Dr mentioned that it will help it grow in faster. I had just kept forgetting about it but he says it really does work. So I figure I might as well keep doing it! Poor kid looks so bald now though...guess he will definitely have to wear hats outside or else his head will freeze!!

9 month checkup

Hudson had his checkup on Thursday and it went really well. He is 28 1/2 inches in the 70% for height and 19 lbs 10 oz which is 45% for weight. I know he must have lost weight since he has been moving around because he was over 20 lbs in Boise. Crazy!! I figured he was going to be higher in the weight area because he is such a chunker! His head is still in the 80% which is good! Got some brains growing in there!! The Dr said there are 4 teeth trying to come in up top so that should be fun for all of us to endure! He said Hudson is getting close to walking but needs to figure out in his head not to have his right foot lead quite as much. I can't believe how big he is getting! I don't think I am ready for the walking stage yet!!

He also said to start pushing the table foods more since Hudson doesn't seem to get filled up on two 4 oz jars of baby food anymore. Plus he said its time to get him more accustomed to real food. So we gave him some green beans to try it out! He actually seemed pretty content with them until the very end...sour face!

Snow

We got a bunch of snow on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. This winter has been so snowy! I don't think I have even seen this much in years. Its kind of fun though especially if you don't really have to go anywhere! The roads actually get pretty bad here though because they seem to be so icy and I don't think they put sand down everywhere. The road by our house still has quite a bit of snow on it days later even though its a fairly busy street!

Here is a cool picture I took with my new camera too...it does a lot of neat things. This is just recognizing all the red and not any of the other colors in the photo! I am sure this could be a cool feature in some pictures but probably not an everyday thing! I was just playing around with it though and testing out a bunch of the features.

9 months!

Hudson is officially 9 months old today! I can't believe its been 9 long months and yet it seems like it couldn't have been that long since he was born! A lot has changed with him this last month...not only was he paraded around to family and a ton of new places, he had his first airplane ride and did really well. He had his first Christmas, "Faux" Christmas and New Year's. He likes to say dada and will jabber a ton of other things that are not really understood in the English language...just in mama/dada speak! He is cruising along the couches and stood all by himself today. He has done the standing alone before but this was the first time he initiated it. He loves to play with all sorts of toys, especially his blocks, cars and squeaky toys he can chew on. He likes to help build towers of blocks and knock them over with things. He will roll balls back and forth to you and he likes to play with toys that make noise! He has really started to enjoy books and not just chewing on them. He laughs a lot and is almost always smiling. He hardly ever gets truly full and you definitely cannot feed him fast enough! He is all boy and loves to bang things together, knock things around and rarely notices when he falls over! He is a ton of fun and a sweet little guy. He has started giving kisses and hugs on his own which makes everything all worth it!

PAT visit

My PAT lady came yesterday! I always look forward to those days and this one was equally great! She does such a good job interacting with Hudson and really has some good insight/advice on new games, songs, and just things to do to keep Hudson and myself entertained! She said Hudson is doing really well and was impressed that he can feel and find textures on toys so well. (kind of hard to explain but she couldn't believe how he would feel each texture design on toys and would actually explore to find them.) This is something I probably would not have picked up on so it was nice to get some feedback. She couldn't believe how much he had grown and changed since our last visit! She brought some great literature with her on language and emotional development. She also had some new rhymes for us, one of which is a Japanese toddler rhyme that is so cute! Someone donated brand new books to PAT so we were excited for this touch and feel book about puppies she brought. Hudson loves it! The star stacker is ours but she brought one just like it with her and talked about what a great tool it is to help them learn cause and effect. Then she brought a bottle filled with red colored water and oil and a few confetti in it. It makes some really cool designs and Hudson likes to roll it around and look at it. She also brought a cleaned up PB jar with toys in it. That is a good tool you can use with things around the house to teach them how to take things out and put them back in as well as the different sounds things make in there and out of there and that teaches them too.
Alright...enough of my rantings on how much I love PAT!!

2nd Semester

I forgot to post that school started back up yesterday! Mike is back in the full swing of things again and Hudson and I are too! We already miss him but we were so thankful to see him so much the last month during the break! Great job with the first semester and good luck with the 2nd one! We are so proud of you!

We got one!

I just realized that I have neglected to post that Mike was offered an internship last week. We are really excited for the opportunity! It will be for this summer at a law firm in Boise. We are grateful we will be able to be closer to friends and family again!! That sure does relieve a lot of pressure!!

I do all my own stunts

As Hudson has become more mobile, I have come to the realization that he will be one of those boys who will constantly have bruises and scraped knees! He is definitely all boy! It seems like he really has no fear because if he is standing up and wants to be down, he just plops down. He knows how to get down but I think this way just seems faster, maybe more intense. Plus, he will be sitting on the couch and will just try lunge towards the floor with no warning...luckily, we don't let him on the couch (or most other places for that matter!!) unless we are right with him! Falling off or down things just don't even seem to phase him either!

This is him literally falling off the couch while I am taking a picture of him. You can barely see his head in the bottom left corner and his back and rear at the top!

Hudson and his buddy, Jordan, were playing on Jordan's push toy the other night and Hudson literally seemed to just leap off of it! It was pretty funny! No fear, no tears!

Hudson started shaking his head no while we were in Boise. I am not sure if he totally understands its meaning but its still pretty funny to watch. I think he just likes that he has figured out how to move his head around more. I was going to post a movie on here but I didn't realize it was Hudson shaking his head and being pretty silent for about 30 seconds. I will have to get one of him where he actually is talking and shaking his head so its not so boring!! hehe

Here are a few fun pictures we took of him yesterday though.

We are home!!

Ok, so we have been home for like 5 days now and I am just now getting around to posting! We had a great time at home visiting with friends and family! We can't wait to go back! We were definitely sad to leave but are glad to get back and get back to school and a normal schedule. Hudson did really well on the plane rides and even slept through most of the longer one, which was great for us! I don't really like the plane rides myself either, especially when the landings are wobbly! So I am glad that is over with.

And this is what we had waiting for us when we got back!! Gotta love all the junk mail you get too!

Fondue

One of our New Year traditions is to have chocolate fondue. We don't necessarily do it on the official New Year's Day but sometime that first week of January. This year we didn't have quite as big of a spread of stuff as usual but I think we had been so "candied" out that it was probably better this way!! We still had quite a bit of stuff and it was DELICIOUS!! There is definitely something to be said about dipping stuff into chocolate! Yummy!

Visiting!

We took Hudson around and showed him off at Mike's and my old work. Everyone couldn't get over what a stud he was! It was great seeing everyone again too. I got a few pictures of my two guys looking all handsome together!

Hudsonian!

Hudson has been in the craziest sleeping positions lately!

He has also figured out that he LOVES cinnamon! Mike was indulging him with a cinnamon bear! I couldn't resist taking a few pictures!

2008!!

I really can't believe its 2008! I feel like it hasn't been that long since the scare of 2000 with all the computers crashing...guess that didn't really happen like they thought. I am excited for this year and whatever it brings. I think that is why I like the start of each year. It brings a sense of starting over, trying to better yourself and a clean slate. For me, I guess its kind of motivating. I am not really into resolutions as much as just setting goals for myself. I think its easier that way! Whatever the year brings, I am excited for it! But no matter what, 2008 is here!

Happy New Year's Eve

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year's Eve. Hope 2008 is even better than 2007!!

We had a great New Year's seeing our friends Mark, Rebekah and their sweet kids. They made us the best dinner and it was so good to see them all again! We miss them a ton! Then we went to my dad's house for some New Year's predictions and games. We had a good time eating Chinese and getting our fortunes for the new year too!
