5 years...

I have already told the story of how Mike and I met so I will spare you that again. I did sappy on Mike's birthday so I didn't think I would go that route either. But since it is our five year anniversary and that only comes around, well once...I thought I would share 5 memorable things from our wedding experience.

  • When I was getting my bridal pictures taken, I almost fainted. It was pretty hot and Tate, our photographer, had me posing in the above shot. My mom must have a keen sense because just as I was about to pass out, she said you don't feel very good do you? Tate rushed and got me something to eat and some water. Everything was all good after that but the funniest thing is that Tate couldn't even tell. He said I did a great job hiding it from the camera. What can I say, I am a natural! hehe
  • I actually booked the temple before Mike and I had set an exact date. My friends I worked with at the financial aid office kept telling me how quickly the temple got booked and if I wanted to get the date we wanted that I should just book it. They convinced me that Mike wouldn't care and he would be happy that I had gotten the date we wanted. So I called and booked it. Not even kidding, only a few hours later, Mike comes and tells me about a buddy of his that booked the temple and was going to surprise his girlfriend and propose only she got a packet in the mail from them before he had the chance to propose. He thought it was so funny. I was kind of barely giving him the nervous laugh. It wasn't until later that he understood why!
  • At our wedding luncheon, Mike asked our nephew if he was going to be picking up on any of the girls there. He blushed and said well, the only pretty girl here is already getting married today. What a cutie! I don't think Mike will ever let him forget that!
  • At our luncheon, we had a great time. Mike's sister, Jodi, read letters that our parents had written about us. It is always fun to see what qualities your parents see in you. We had a few musical numbers, one of which was done by a friend who wrote a song about my roommate and sang it for us...kinda funny! But one thing that I will always remember from our luncheon was the chicken salad croissant sandwiches and the plethora of cakes. By plethora I mean at least 10 or 12 different cakes. It was definitely a highlight!!
  • When we were getting our pictures taken around the temple, Tate must have timed it just right. We got a bunch of pictures in front of this fountain that is timed. It only stays on for a certain amount of time before it shuts off again for awhile. So when we got pictures, it was on and was beautiful. We noticed someone was waiting so we finished up and went to a new place to take pictures. Just as we were leaving, the fountains shut off. Guess we have perfect timing...
The last five years with Mike have been awesome! We have lived in 5 different places of our own although we have moved at least 7 or 8 times. We have bought and sold a home, both graduated with our bachelor's, Mike got his master's and is working on his law degree, and we have moved halfway across the country! Life has been crazy to say the least but we love it! I think the thing we have learned so far is that life is never exactly how you expect it to be, but that is what keeps it exciting! Thanks for being my best friend! Mike, I love you!

Just Beat It!!

Hudson was all over this one! He couldn't get enough of that chocolate frosting!! I can't blame him though because neither can I!!

It's a sign!

Maybe this is a sign that Hudson is on his way to an Ivy League school someday....

Elmo!!

Our friends had a 2nd birthday party for their little girl, Addison. Special guest of honor: Elmo!! They had some really cute decorations all over the place! The kids played "Stick the nose on Elmo" which Addison had no problem doing. Guess their recommendation for not blindfolding kids under 3 didn't apply to her! Hudson put it on his belly but close enough since I think he had no clue what was really going on!! Bryce decided to rip it off the wall in this one. Then they had to pull out the ribbons on the Elmo pinata. It was so funny to watch Addison get into that one. It looked like they were grabbing at his butt! Hudson was all for getting the candy. He may not have wanted to go after the pinata but he sure wanted that candy.Ahhh, then it was Elmo cake time. This is Ryan getting the candles lit the only way he knows how: using a mini-blow torch. He is a crack up!Hudson loved watching all the kids and was being a crack up. He has definitely gotten over his shy stint. What a funny kid! He was all over her gifts. I can't wait for Christmas...he is going to be a blast this year!!

Big Boy Toy Show

We went to the Big Boy Toy Show on Saturday. It was fun to see some souped up cars! I love the older ones that are just so slick looking. I seriously would almost choose one of those over a new car. There was a firetruck and a police car thrown in with some old cars. This old one was one of my favorites! Such a sweet paint job...makes me wish I was alive back in the olden days when these were all they had.The engines are just so powerful and sweet. Can't beat a very clean engine...I don't know what most of the stuff in it is but you know it has been meticulously cared for if it is that clean! There was even a Metro that has been completely converted to an electric only car. It was really cool to see. Comparatively the cost vs gas is about 172 mpg. Not too shabby!!This is a classic old beast!! We couldn't pass up a shot with this. It doesn't look that long in this picture but it really is.

Dairy Days Parade

On Friday, we went to the Dairy Days Parade in Meridian. It was a great parade, especially compared to our last parade outing!! They gave away chocolate milk, gobs of string cheese, TCBY yogurt and lots of candy. Hudson had a great time eating all of that yummy stuff! There was this fun little feather for him to wear courtesy of a running politician. Hudson really liked having it on his head. There were lots of dairy based floats like this one made out of balloons. And most of the cars had cow "spots" on them...very clever!!I got a shot of this lady dressed as a cow handing out milk. But I had to get one of the real thing too!

Our private beach

Well close enough to our own beach. I guess it's more like a mini beach for us and an actual beach for Hudson. He randomly walked over and started playing with the sand today. Guess he isn't as freaked out by the grass anymore because he had to cross it to get to the sand. But squishing and squeezing the sand in his hands and making a huge mess may have been his motivation for crossing over the crazy green stuff! It was funny to watch. I decided to get in on the action too. We were making crabs and turtles in the sand. He was so content to just play in it by himself. Maybe he will try making a sandcastle next time.

Oreos

These look alot like Oreo cookie crumbs.
If only they really were....It would make a lot more sense that Hudson was eating them!

What is this?

Hudson loves to play with this: Only, we haven't really been able to figure out exactly what "this" is supposed to be. Any ideas??
