"Buh"

We have been working with Hudson on his B sounds and on doing the raspberry sound and I think he is really starting to get it now. I was finally able to catch it on video this afternoon!

I was so proud that he has been starting to get those sounds with his mouth. He seems like he likes to observe us for awhile before he tries it just to make sure he will be able to get it down! YAY Hudson!!

Care Package

Mike's parents sent us a care package that we were so excited to get! I love getting things unexpected in the mail, especially when its fun stuff! They sent us some treats and I got some fun Pampered Chef frosting tips for decorating (which I love to do)!! Then they sent Hudson some rubber duckies! Couldn't resist putting a picture of him and them on here together!

Thank you so much for making our day yesterday!! That was awesome! We love you!

To sleep or not to sleep

Hudson is normally a VERY good sleeper. We are talking like 12 hours a night usually but I must say that this week, he has been a bit off. He keeps waking up at 4:30am, almost exactly to the dot. You could use this kid as an alarm clock if you wanted to get up at 4:30...well since I don't, it tends to be a little annoying! We usually just give him his pacifier and Fuzz and he is back to sleep in no time. But then last night, the little guy would not go to sleep. It could have been his 3 hour nap that threw him off but we were going nuts trying to get him to fall asleep! I guess I can't complain too much though because he has been an excellent sleeper since he was like 2 1/2 months old. You win some, you lose some! I keep thinking maybe Hudson is just excited for his Grandma and Grandpa L and Great Grandma C to come visit him this weekend! I am sure that is it!

Veggies!

Hudson started on squash and sweet potatoes this week and he loves them both! He will just eat and eat them so I have to cut him off! I am so glad he is a good eater though! It was starting to get a little frustrating with the cereal before we added fruit to it. I know not everyone likes that rice cereal...I have a secret love for it but I think I am just odd!

Fabric...

I went to Joann's this week and had a great time just browsing through their fabric. I am itching to start a sewing project so I was excited that we decided to make little quilts for YW. We are giving them to the hospital to give to kids in the pediatric area just as like a security blanket. They are pretty small just 16x16. The girls seemed to have fun working on them and I enjoyed being able to help them sew. It helped with my itch for sewing but I still think I am going to have to do something bigger. I am thinking of starting a quilt or maybe doing our Christmas stockings. I need to decide on fabric and just get going on it! I love sewing and am so glad that I have a little knowledge of it! I want to learn how to do pieced quilts, they look SO hard though!

Cakes and Birthdays...

I helped Tiff with Jordan's cake on Monday. And seriously, it took us all day! It always takes longer doing everything with little guys around! But I loved how it turned out so I had to post some pictures of our artwork. I found the design off of Family Fun's website.

Hudson was ecstatic to be invited to Jordan's birthday party! They were so funny when they had party hats on...they both just looked at each other, you look like a doofus with that hat on! Little did they know they were wearing one too!!

Thank you!

I also have to thank Erica for helping me update my blog! I was so glad to have her volunteer to come over and show me what in the heck I was doing! (Because seriously HTML code makes my mind go huh??) I really appreciate her coming and I had a good time with her and Maddy! Maddy kept laughing at Hudson and playing peekaboo with him! I think he was in heaven!

Work

Guess I have to apologize for not posting much this week...its been kind of a "crazy, a little bit of everything thrown in" kind of week!

I did finish the 8th Work and the Glory book! I am excited about that. Just one more to go, and I have read the whole series, one that I would recommend to everyone to read! I love reading about the pioneers stories though so I just can't get enough of them!

Zoobaloo!

Tiff and I went to Zoobaloo at the zoo yesterday with the Parents as Teachers Program. It was great. Although Jordan and Hudson didn't participate in making the stuff, they sure enjoyed getting outside and seeing the animals...or maybe just seeing stuff. But it was fun. I hadn't been to the zoo yet so this was a great opportunity to go check it out, and it was even free! I loved the giraffes and the elephants the best, but then again they were some of the only animals that seemed to be out in the heat! But they probably still would have been my favorites!
Hudson seemed very tired when we got there but he enjoyed himself anyway!!
Hudson checking out the Frisbee's durability! I decorated it with zoo animals for him.
Hudson grabbing the very cool snake I made him!
Jordan playing with the turtle they gave us for completing our snakes all the way!
Love the babies at the zoo! They have some really cool statues there, like the lion one behind the boys. It was a great time at the zoo!

Library

I went to the library yesterday with my friend Tiff. We were so excited about it. I have been there before but not really to get stuff for Hudson. They had a ton of educational baby videos and CD's. They have a whole room of board books and they have these sneak bags. The sneak bags are awesome because they come with like 4 or 5 books, toys and rhymes and stuff that are all in one theme. The one we got was music. So there is a tambourine and maracas in there. Hudson loves them! Who could blame him really? They make noise when you move them around! We had a blast! Guess we are going to have to keep going there every couple of weeks to renew our supply!

2nd PAT Visit

I really am so excited about the PAT program. I got my book all colored so she is going to laminate that for me. She brought me some books to have (one is the picture above with all different types of stars so they can touch and feel it.) and a ring with laminated rhymes on it (which she will bring more for me each time). I am so excited for those. I know Hudson will love to have it! He just loves songs and rhymes. He will laugh and giggle whenever I sing to him...hmmm, maybe that is not a good thing to admit!! Haha
She brought this cool thing which is a pretty black fabric with bright colored dots that you can tie up so they can reach for it and kick at it. Hudson was mesmerized by the fabric.

Before and After
She brought a boppy pillow for us to try out and I actually really like it for him while he is getting used to sitting up. It sure beats having monster pillows all over the living room. Now if he swings back, he just gets the boppy pillow but its much more condensed! We talked about my pregnancy and Hudson's hearing and vision screenings. Next time she comes, we are going to just play though so I am excited for that!

Sleepovers

When Mike and I got into bed last night we started reminiscing about the good ole sleepover days! For some reason, I felt giddy like we were having a sleepover. I just wanted to lay there and talk about nonsensical things. I told him we should have a sleepover! You know with movies and popcorn. Chatting into the late hours of the night. Pizza. Pop. All that good junk food. Games. Play the silly kid love MASH game. (Ok maybe Mike wouldn't want to play MASH but all that other stuff sounds good!) I loved having sleepovers as a kid. Sometimes you wish you could go back to those sleepover days and just revel in the moment. I remember sometimes waking up in the middle of the night and just wanting to be home in my own bed though. So I would fake sick and call my mom to come get me. There is just something about moms that they understand that fake sickness. So they drag themselves out of bed in the wee hours of the night to come get you without complaining. If only we appreciated their sacrifices as much then as we do when we get older! Mike and I decided we will have a sleepover tradition with our family. One where we all sleep on the floor and watch movies and play games and just eat til we want to puke! Well maybe not quite til we want to puke but you get the idea! Its funny sometimes when you are a kid you can't wait til you are older. And sometimes when you are older, you try to recapture the things you did as a little kid.

5 months old!!

I can't believe how fast time flies! It seems like Hudson was just barely born and I was stumbling around trying to figure out this whole mothering thing...not that I have it mastered but at least I feel a little more confident than I did! Hudson is growing like crazy and I just love that he is starting to master some skills. Its so fun to see him react to your voice or his name, not sure he knows what it is yet but at least he responds to it! So here are the monthly pictures with the bat!

Wow! I am strong!! hehe
Hey, what is this thing??!
Mom, I love that camera thing you always have in my face!

Bzzzz

Hudson and Mike were playing together today while I was working on posting something so I snuck in to get them! Hudson was laughing so hard! It was cute! He sure lights up whenever his dad is around! He loves to play with him.

Sitting up!

Hudson just started sitting up and might I just add, he is doing GREAT at it. Mike said he fell back on a pillow and was able to get himself back up. He is going to be into things in no time I can just feel the extra work coming on! He will be a handful! He started this thing too where he screams when he wants something so if he is laying down and he wants to sit up...he just screams at the top of his lungs! Impatient little guy huh??

This was one of his first attempts at it yesterday, at least that I could get on camera. He was a little off balance though.

This was today when he was doing really good...but we had the pillows around him just in case!

PAT

For those of you non-Kansasians (or whatever we refer to ourselves as), PAT is a nationwide thing they do here called Parents as Teachers. My parent educator, Sherry, came by yesterday for the first time. It was awesome! I am so excited about it! They have awesome things to help parents be better educators since the little people learn more in the first 3 years of life than they ever will. Pretty crazy! She left me with a whole big booklet of rhymes and songs, some of which I had forgotten so I was so excited and so was Hudson when I started singing them to him last night...he especially loved Where is Thumbkin? I also have a book I have to get colored before she comes back next time so she can laminate it for me. I am looking forward to her visit next week. It will be so nice to have them bring different fresh ideas than what I have come up with to help entertain and teach Hudson. She will usually come once a month and just bring fun stuff to play with and help us make cool toys with stuff at home to help Hudson explore things. I love that Kansas is so family oriented and really focuses on education and helping young children get a great start!

Crazy Kansas Weather

Last Thursday night I woke up to the sound of the tree outside blowing so much I thought the branches were going to break through the window! I woke Mike up and had him go see if there was a tornado warning on the weather channel...I was a little out of it and kept thinking I couldn't leave Hudson upstairs in case the branch did come through the window!! But luckily there was no tornado warning just a storm watch with "deadly" winds...not sure what that means exactly, sounds scary! The winds were over 60 mph and there was continuous thunder and lightning so loud and bright I couldn't believe it! I was seriously scared! I heard that the tornado sirens actually did go off but it was an accident...ummm, should I be scared that we couldn't hear them from our place???

The next morning I drove Mike to school so I could run some errands with the car and we saw branches all over the ground. It looked like the trees really took quite a beating during the storm. The crazy thing was that it wasn't really raining that hard. Kansas has the CRAZIEST weather!

Hey Handsome Guys!

Hudson is growing like crazy and it seems like we have to keep going through the clothes he is wearing because he is growing out of stuff so fast! I have been excited about the new stuff he fits into though. He wore his church outfit for the first time yesterday. We thought he looked like a handsome little dude in it! He is such a stud when he is smiling! I love it.

He weighs 17 lbs now and is so heavy that I can barely tote him around in his carrier! I should be lifting weights or something to gear up for our outings! Hudson has also turned into quite the stubborn little dude. He does not like to fall asleep when we are around people. It doesn't matter how tired he is, he will just scream if we try to rock him to sleep! It makes Sundays a bit difficult. But he did really well at the RS Super Saturday that I went on Saturday. He did finally fall asleep and he was flirting with everyone. Doing his fun little laugh/squeal...they loved it! He is so much fun though so the good times are definitely outweighing the screaming!

He started getting sick of the plain cereal and would barely touch it so we tried adding a little of baby food to it and he loved it. We added a touch of banana and he couldn't get enough of the stuff! Just kept gulping it down and opening up his mouth. Whew...that makes it so much better because I was getting sick of the "fight" we would have to try and get him to have any cereal at all!

Roll over Beethoven!

Hudson finally rolled over from his back to his belly this morning!! He has been threatening to do it for awhile but he finally did it! It kind of caught me off guard, hence the reason I don't have a picture of it!! It was funny though because then he had his arm tucked under him and couldn't get it out! He is growing up too fast!!

Insert foot in mouth

Hudson has discovered how to reach his feet in his mouth. I took a picture of him doing it Tuesday night but its at a weird angle so he wouldn't see the camera and stop!

Earlier on Tuesday, Hudson was playing with his buddy Jordan and they both couldn't stop staring at each other. It was so cute!!

Fuzz

Not too much going on today. I took Mike up to the school so I could have the car! I was so excited and yet, after going to Target, pretty much don't feel like going anywhere else! Ha ha Guess having a car is over rated! Just makes you spend money anyway.

Hudson is up in his crib fast asleep with one sock on and one off and wrapped all around his Fuzz blanket. (Fuzz was obviously named after his fuzzy appearance) I was informed I needed to show off Fuzz so I took a few pictures of them together! Hudson falls right to sleep when he has Fuzz with him. He just cuddles with him and rubs his ears on his face. The other morning I went to get him out of his crib and he was chewing on Fuzz's ears! I told Hudson he better be nicer to Fuzz or else he won't want to play with him anymore! A lady in my old ward made Fuzz for us and we are SO thankful she did because Hudson just can't get enough of him! In the corner of the 2nd picture, you can see part of the laughing turtle and "Fuzz's Cuz" as we like to call him. He is another blue dog that Hudson likes to move all around his crib after he wakes up! I always find him clear on the other end of the crib!

Look-A-Like!

I had to copy a friend of mine on this because I thought it was so clever! Plus I was dying to know who it would say Hudson looked like more. We always thought Hudson was a good mix of the two of us! But now we know the truth!!

Even though the resemblance between Mike and Hudson is more noticeable at times, the look-a-like meter has spoken! Guess Hudson looks more like me by 19%! I can definitely see it more now than when he was first born. No one ever thought he looked like me!
